Well it's that time of year when, for some, thoughts turn away from the road to the track and cyclo-cross. More on the cyclo-cross in a later article, but for the time being here are some details on upcoming track events either being organised by JIF or with Jiffies taking part. Monday Night JIF Velodrome SessionAs with previous years, JIF have once again booked Monday evenings at Newport from 8pm to 9.30pm. The first session will be on Monday 3rd October and will run every week into the New Year (with the usual break at Christmas). More details on this session including full schedule and cost etc. will be published on the JIF site when known.British Cycling Inter-Regional Track ChampionshipsThis weekend (23-25th September) sees the running of the British Cycling Inter-Regional Track Championships at Newport Velodrome. We have a single Jiffy riding this event in the form of Zach May. Best of luck Zach from us all and hope all goes well for you!!! BC National Junior and Youth Madison ChampionshipsJIF have a single pair riding in the Junior race on 2nd October 2011 at Manchester Velodrome with Zach May and Matt Haase. Best of luck guys - bring back a medal!!! UCI Track Cycling Masters World ChampionshipsOctober 9th to October 15th sees the annual running off the Track Masters World Championships, this year taking place at Manchester Velodrome. JIF have a number of riders taking part in this event and we have a real chance of seeing more medals after Courtney's excellent bronze last year - I suspect he is thinking of a different colour this year! Anyone taking part please email me details ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) of which events/age group you're riding and I'll get a full article up before the event. 2011 Welsh Closed Track ChampionshipsCourtney is organising the 2011 Welsh Closed Track Championships which are taking place on Saturday 3rd December at Newport Velodrome. Categories are in place for E/1/2/3/4, Masters (40+/50+/60+), Juniors and Ladies and the racing will take the form of an omnium which is to include 2 sprint events and 2 endurance events in the form:
It would certainly be great to get a few Jiffies into this event. |
