This is a quick update on the success of the cross riders this season. Just like our slick tyred cousins, this season has been a tremendous season in Green.
To spare you lots of race reports, here's a quick summing up of the gongs and the performances at the Nationals this weekend. As follows: Welsh ChampionshipsV50 – Gold – Paul Bennett (Winner of the Welsh Championship Jersey) V50 – Bronze – Donald Gray V40 Bronze – Simon Nurse.Junior – Gold - Adam King Junior – Silver – Matt Thomson Female Youth – Bronze - Elizabeth Bennett Special mention in the Senior race – Gareth Barnes, a cracking ride for 4th. Welsh LeagueJunior Champ – Adam King (2nd in the overall league!) Junior 2nd – Matt Thomson (3rd in the overall league!) V50 Champ – Donald Gray. U14 Boys 2nd – James Tillett U14 Boys 3rd – Sam Tillett NationalsJunior - Matt Thomson – 14th V50 - Donald Gray – 10th Senior - Gareth Barnes 44th (A great result - Gareth wasn't gridded as he joined the season late) SummaryLots of success for 3 riders in particular: Adam King and Matt Thomson close 'Frenemies' (Friend/Enemy, a phrase coined by Adam's sister) driving each other to the top of the league and Donald Gray enjoying a blistering run of form to bag himself two major gongs and push everyone very hard all season. Well done that man. From a personal perspective, while I missed more of the season than I'd have liked to, it's been great to watch the season unfold, with sterling performances in all of the age group categories. With talented U14s and Juniors coming through, and a great new signing in Gareth Barnes, next season is looking rosy. Can't wait. Only 9 months to the 3 Peaks. (Apologies in advance for any errors or omissions). |
