Pembrey
Hi All,
A bit of a mixed bag of results from Pembrey, so will, for once, keep it short and to the point!
In the 3/4 race for JIF were Darren, Jason, Mark, AJ, Ieuan, Donald, Malcolm and I. JIF were active throughout the race both covering the attacks and attacking ourselves at many different points.
With a couple of laps to go Darren made it into a break of 4 and they just held on on the last lap to contest the top 4 places with the win going to Darren...fantastic result!!! First three Pembrey's and a JIF winner for each...be good to get a full house.
In the bunch sprint for the remaining places Jason was given 6th, but in some very bizarre place recording both Ieuan and I were "missed" and despite enquiries at the end were not given a placing...gutted for Ieuan especially since he was clearly just one position behind Jason, whilst I was convinced I was 9th or 10th - c'est la vie!
Excellent racing by the JIF though with virtually everyone getting in on the action at some point during the race. A big mention goes to Donald who was very active in the race and finished just outside the top 10 in 12th we believe.
Unfortunately AJ was less fortunate in the sprint with a rider going down in front of him, he had no where to go and went into the rider and down he went. Tim Austin and another lady were on hand quickly to help and did a great job to patch him up but it looked like he might have broken his arm.
Luckily a trip to A&E showed that there is no breakage, just sore and lots of skin taken off ouch!!! Hopefully he will get well soon and that his bike is in one piece...
In the second race JIF were represented by Darren, Jason, Stuart M, Paul B and Luke. Early on there was a break of 4 riders which included Luke...I believe Luke went on to get a superb 3rd place with Jason (riding both races) taking 9th. Excellent result guys!
Did I say it was going to be short and to the point??? Oh well, sorry!
Cheers,
Rog

Presidents
Hello Everyone,
A cracking evening in the 2nd Presidents Road Race over at Resolven tonight.
A strong JIF contingent was in the 4th cat group which included Donald, Ieuan, Jason, Del, Mark and Tony (Trigger).
They set off with a 4 minute advantage over a small(ish) group of 3rd cat and 2nd cat vets with JIF represented by Courtney, Paul B and I. The E/1/2 group started a further 3 minutes back.
Right from the off it seemed as though the front group had a cracking opportunity to stay away given the small number in the middle group and the significant advantage over the chasing scratch group.
The middle group worked pretty well together, but was caught with just over a lap to go and the chase was on. With one lap to go the front group's gap was still a very significant 2 minutes and by the time the now combined E/1/2/3 group got to the turn with half a lap to go, the advantage was still over a minute and it was clear the front group would stay away.
In a fast finish it was Ieuan who used his track sprinting ability to excellent effect once again, after taking his first points at Pembrey the week previous, to take the win followed very closely by Jason taking an excellent 3rd place. Del put in an excellent performance and picked up an brilliant 8th position and first points of the year!
A big shout out goes to Mark who was strong tonight and put in a cracking performance to finish in the bunch and it could have been better had he not got boxed in - nice one fella! Tony and Donald I understand finished in the bunch, so well done all round - a strong team performance.
All in all another cracking performance by the JIF, 3 in the top 10 and more points towards the club's regional ranking.
Further congratulations tonight also go out to Ieuan and Jason who both attained 3rd cat licences this evening...really pleased for them both...Jason - it's about time mate!!!
Apologies all for the essay, but thought it worthy...turning into a cracking year for the team!!!
Cheers everyone.

Race Report
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to put a big shout out for a superb JIF result last night in the 3/4 race at Pembrey!
Darren and Luke were aggressive right from the start and broke away pretty early together and made it all the way to the finish for an impressive 1-2. They crossed the line together and did not contest the sprint, but we believe the result was given to Luke. Congrats to Luke for making 2nd cat!
Courtney and AJ rode really well to get into the other break from the main bunch (2 out of the 7) and Courtney got away on the final lap with another rider from Ystwyth and held on to take 3rd and complete a JIF 123!!! Great riding!
AJ rode a blinder for 7th and a really big shout out for Ieuan Williams who rode really well in first helping Courtney make it across to the break, but then showing real patience and determination to work with the remainder of the bunch (which had split in two) and put in a superb sprint to take 10th and his first BC point - nice one fella!
5 in the top 10 for JIF...don't get much better than that...
Unfortunately we had to leave early so did not get a chance to see the result of the 2/3/4 race but hope they did well...
Cheers,
Rog

'Stuff'
Chain Gang went well last evening. I had not been out on the Tuesday for several weeks, figuring I would stay out of the way until the 'Boys' decided on a deffinative route. Double/Triple 'Flats' worked very well, speed was consistent (fast), traffic light and the group stayed together much longer than on the other routes. There was a view that another ride on the 'Flats' was too boring but 'hey' you're supposed to be working hard not watching the wild-life!
The Monday ride is a JIF (ONLY) ride so could we politely ask other riders to let us ride as a Club on this one evening of the week. JIF riders not wearing Club jerseys will be fined - 'Legs' and Paul please note!
