Well it's that time of year again when we all go completely crazy and start doing the barking mad discipline of the weekly JIF chaingang on a Tuesday evening. In a change from the last couple of years we will be using a different route but departing from Maindy as usual at 18:30 on each Tuesday through Spring and Summer. The ride will depart Maindy Stadium at 18:30 and head straight out "steady" on Newport Road up Rumney Hill and out to the St Mellons Roundabout which is where the chaingang will commence. The route will effectively comprise between 2-3 laps of an out and back route from St Mellons Roundabout down the A48 - through the LG roundabout and to the 2nd (Business Park) roundabout where upon it will turn and return back on the A48 to the St Mellons Roundabout. Those who wish to turn early can do so at the LG roundabout (and get a head start on LG hill) and then re-join the chaingang as it catches. Each week the plan is for the first lap to be controlled with subsequent laps at a much quicker pace. It is intended that week 1 will be just 2 laps of the above route with subsequent weeks being 3 laps for those that can handle it! All riders are welcome to join in with our training ride regardless of club... |
