For those of you who don't know, for the last few years we have held a coffee and cake night to raise money for various charities including Macmillan, Marie Curie and Oxfam but more importantly for us as a club, they have been held in memory of a great man, George Greaves.
This year, the social is on 1st October, 7pm onwards at Cyclopeadia.
Please let me know if you and your family / friends will be there (can you give numbers so we know how many to cater for).
Just a few more requests:
1. If anyone is willing to show off their baking skills, can you email me so I can organise who is bringing what so we don't get swamped by cake!!! (please don't just turn up with cake as we end up being swamped and trying to get rid of it - which defeats the objective of the night!)
2. If anyone has anything worth going in an auction / raffle for the night, please let me know. If there are enough then it will be worth doing to make some extra money!
3. If anyone has any suggestions on a charity to donate money raised to please email me and we will make a decision as a club on which to donate money to (a small amount will still go to Macmillan this year as they are who the coffee nights have been organised through before).
4. BRING LOTS OF MONEY!!!
Finally - big THANKS to Ian and Stu for letting us use the shop for this event!!!
As I'm sure you will all be aware, our very own Courtney Rowe recently took part in the UK Masters Track Champs at Newport Velodrome in the scratch race and in a very close finish took the gold medal and National Champs jersey! The video of the last 3 minutes of the race are here...Enjoy!
In what has been a cracking season so far he's also recently got his 2nd cat licence as well! Congrats fella...nice one!!!
On Saturday, June 19th the Aberystwyth Seafront Criteriums take place between 6pm and 9pm with Youth A & B, Go-Race and 2/3/4 races being organised by Ystwyth CC.
There will be a generous prize list available and there will be many prime laps during all four races where riders will be able to win some financial and some totally bizarre prizes.
Commentary on the races will be provided by S4C's Rasus commentator, Ray Jenkins, and the event HQ is the Bandstand on the promenade.
Apologies for pinching valuable web space to shamelessly plug a multi sport event that I co-organise.
Next Wednesday (the 12th of May) at 7.30pm, Llandow will host the first of the Llandow Duathlons, organised by Les Croupiers Triathletes. It's a great opportunity to use both your daps and your bikes in a safe, local and - most importantly! - cheap and friendly multi-sport event.
Previously several Jiffies have competed here, including Ian, Laura and Dave Bright to name but a few.
So if you fancy a race experience with a difference and an altogether new take on oxygen debt, I hope to see you there.
